Outo-no-Miya Ozaka Funen Taisha Osaka Honten is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the goddess Amaterasu and the god Susanoo, located in Osaka Prefecture. The shrine is famous for its beautiful architecture and traditional Japanese gardens. As one of the most important shrines in Japan, it is also known as Osaka's ' Imperial Palace'. The shrine was originally built as a branch shrine of the main temple at Ise, which is dedicated to Amaterasu.

Visitor tip
Visitors can try some traditional Osaka-style sweets called 'Mochi' at the shrine's tea house, 'Kaze no Kokoro'.
Cultural notes
The shrine is famous for its beautiful autumn foliage and traditional New Year (Oshogatsu) festival. During this time, visitors can participate in traditional rituals such as the ' Hatsumode' (first shrine visit of the year) and try local specialties like 'Kakinoha-zushi'.
Historical note
The current building dates back to 1892 and was rebuilt in 1985 after being damaged by an earthquake.
