Yamanashi

Located in the picturesque town of Kofu, Japan, Yagis Shrine is a Shinto temple dedicated to Yamato Takemitsu, a legendary samurai from the Heian period. Built in 1877 as the new shrine for the area's former shrines, the current structure features a unique roof design reminiscent of traditional Japanese thatched-roof buildings. The shrine complex includes a large garden, offering visitors a serene escape from the bustling city.

Cultural notes

Yagis Shrine is associated with the legend of Yamato Takemitsu, a samurai who helped defend his lord's castle against invading forces. The shrine also hosts the annual Yagis Matsuri festival in May, featuring traditional dances, music, and food stalls.
