Located in the city of Richo, Chiba Prefecture, the Eight Stage Shrine is one of the oldest shrines dedicated to Fujin Ryujin, the god of wind and clouds. Founded during the Nara period (710-794 CE), it was originally known as 'Hachi-bashi no Okami', referring to its eight-step staircase leading up to the shrine's main hall. Over time, the name evolved into its current form, 'Hachibashi no Jinsha'. Visitors can still see remnants of the original Nara-period architecture and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of this historic Shinto site.
