Visitor tip

Cultural notes

The shrine is closely associated with the legend of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who is revered as a kami. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in April, known as 'Tsurugaoka Hachiman Matsuri', which features traditional performances and games. In addition, the shrine's garden is particularly famous for its beautiful plum blossoms, which bloom in late February.
