Iwate

Located in the city of Hirosaki, Aomori Prefecture, not Iwate, is the Dewa Sanzan Grand Shrine. The primary kami enshrined is Amaterasu, but the shrine is also known as Inari Okappi Jinja and is famous for its fox statues, similar to those found at the famous Kasuga-taisha shrine in Nara. However, no shrine with this exact name in Iwate Prefecture exists.

Cultural notes

While there is no shrine with this exact name in Iwate Prefecture, Inari Okappi Jinja does exist in Aomori Prefecture. This shrine is famous for its large number of fox statues, similar to those found at Kasuga-taisha shrine in Nara. The shrine is also known as Dewa Sanzan Grand Shrine and is located near the foot of Mount Iwate.
