Rinonatsu-jinja Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the town of Minamisanriku, Miyagi Prefecture. Dedicated to Okuninushi no kami, it is one of the most important shrines in the Sendai region and has been revered since the Heian period.

Visitor tip
To fully appreciate the shrine's architecture, visit during cherry blossom season (late March to early April) for stunning views of its traditional torii gate amidst blooming sakura trees.
Cultural notes
As one of the oldest shrines in Miyagi Prefecture, Rinonatsu-jinja is believed to be dedicated to Okuninushi no kami, a Shinto god associated with good harvests and agriculture. The shrine's main hall features a unique curved roof design typical of Heian-period architecture.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed by an earthquake in 1923.
