Located in the town of Kusatsu in Gunma Prefecture, Ryūgyū Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Ryūgū no Okami, a mythical dragon-god, as well as Inari Ōkami and other kami. The shrine is famous for its beautiful garden, historic buildings, and traditional festivals.

Historical note

Founded in the Edo period (1603-1867), the shrine was originally dedicated to Ryūgū no Okami but also enshrined Inari Ōkami during the Meiji period (1868-1912).
