Cultural notes

Tenman-kyo is closely associated with the legend of the 'Tengu's Bone', a sacred relic said to have been brought from China by Japanese Buddhist monks in the 8th century. The shrine also holds an annual autumn festival, called 'Aki Matsuri', which features traditional games and performances.
