Located in the heart of Sendaicho, Tsutsujinooka Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the legendary swordsmith Kamiyama no Yasutada, who forged the famous Yamato sword. This shrine, located in Miyagi Prefecture, is known for its striking architecture and beautiful gardens.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

As one of the many shrines dedicated to Kamiyama no Yasutada, Tsutsujinooka Shrine is also known for its association with the Yamato sword legend, which plays an important role in Japanese mythology. The shrine is also famous for its beautiful cherry blossom trees and traditional New Year's festival (Oshogatsu) celebrations.
