Gold Sword Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to Gold Sword, the god of gold and prosperity, is located in the town of Matsue, Shimane Prefecture. The shrine's architecture reflects the Heian period's influence, with a traditional-style main hall and a vermilion torii gate. The shrine complex also features various shrines and temples built during the Edo period.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

As Gold Sword is often associated with wealth and prosperity, visitors may make offerings of gold coins, jewelry, or other precious items. The shrine also hosts an annual Matsue Golden Festival (March-April) to celebrate the arrival of spring.
