Cultural notes

As a shrine dedicated to water and fertility, Godaiji Hikawa Shrine is closely tied to the mythology of the kami Ryujin (Dragon God) and Okuninushi (God of Rice). The shrine also celebrates the annual Hikawachō festival in October, which honors the local patron deity.
