菅原道真公神 is a Shinto shrine located in Shiga Prefecture, dedicated to the deified spirits of Minamoto no Yoshitsune and his half-brother Minamoto no Yoshitsugu. The shrine's primary deity is Minamoto no Yoshitsune, also known as Yoshitsune-no-Mikoto.

Visitor tip
To get the most out of your visit, try to arrive during the spring festival (March-April), when the shrine grounds are beautifully illuminated with lanterns and traditional dances can be seen taking place.

Minamoto no Yoshitsune is revered for his loyalty and bravery. His legacy is celebrated through various festivals and rituals at this shrine, including a traditional music performance called 'Yoshitsune no Uta' that commemorates the legendary hero's return to his hometown of Karasuma.
Historical note
Established in 1251 by the Kamakura shogunate, the shrine was rebuilt after a fire destroyed it in 1235.
