Cultural notes
Senshu Shrine is associated with the legend of Senshu no Mikoto, a kami who was said to have brought water from the Izu Peninsula to create the nearby Fuji River. The shrine is also famous for its annual Autumn Leaves Festival (Koyo Matsuri), which features traditional food stalls and lanterns.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1641 after being destroyed by a fire during the Edo period.
