Located in the western part of Japan, West Miyako Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami Inari and Ryujin. The shrine is known for its beautiful gardens, impressive wooden torii gate, and traditional architecture inspired by the Heian period. It has been an important site for worship and rituals since its construction during the Nara period (710-794 CE).

Cultural notes
As one of the many shrines dedicated to Inari, the shrine is famous for its fox spirits. According to legend, a fox spirit appeared to the shrine's founder and granted him permission to build the shrine.
