This island shrine showcases a unique blend of traditional Shinto architecture and stunning ocean views. The shrine's history dates back to 1871, when it was rebuilt after an earthquake in 1869.

Cultural notes
Oroka Shrine is closely tied to the mythology surrounding Enmei-hoshinō, the 'God of Medicine' who was believed to have healed Emperor Jimmu. During the annual 'Akematsu-matsuri' festival, which takes place in October, shrine priests perform rituals to honor Enmei-hoshinō and seek good health.
