Cultural notes
Ryukuyama Shrine is also famous for its association with the legend of Urashima Taro, a fisherman who fell in love with a princess from the underwater palace of the Ryujin (Dragon God). The shrine's annual summer festival, Odori Festival, features traditional dances and music performed by local schools.
