Tenshou-ji Shrine in Shiga Prefecture is dedicated to the Shinto god of storms, lightning, and thunder, Tenjin. Located near Lake Biwa, a sacred lake in Japanese mythology, the shrine is known for its traditional architecture and scenic views. Cultural notes

Tenshou-ji Shrine is connected to the mythology of Lake Biwa, considered one of Japan's sacred lakes. The shrine is also associated with the legend of the samurai Minamoto no Yoshitsune, who was said to have visited the shrine before his death.

Founded in 746 by Emperor Shomu, Tenshou-ji Shrine has been an important site for over 1,200 years.
