北湯沢三峯神社

Located in the scenic town of Abashiri, Hokkaido, 北湯沢三峡神社 is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of snow and frost, known as Yuki-Okami. The shrine's name roughly translates to 'Snowy Waterfall Shrine'. According to local legend, Yuki-Okami descended upon this area during the 17th century to grant the local inhabitants protection from harsh winters and a bountiful harvest. Today, visitors can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding mountains and frozen waterfalls while making an offering to the shrine's kami.

The shrine was rebuilt in 1675 after being damaged during the Genroku period.
