Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Izuyu Shrine is said to be associated with the myth of the 'Three-Legged Stool', a mythical creature that brought prosperity to the region. The shrine's torii gate is also believed to be a sacred symbol, known as 'fudo myo', which represents the power of the kami.
Historical note
The shrine was originally known as Izuyu-taisha and was later renamed Izuyu-jinja.
