Shiga

Located in the city of Omi, Shiga Prefecture, Ifukuji Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Musubi Okami, the god of prosperity and abundance. The shrine was originally built as the Hie Shrine during the Heian period but moved to its current location in 1889 due to urbanization.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

The shrine is famous for its numerous Shinto deities enshrined, including Ifukuji Musubi Okami, and its unique architectural style which combines elements of traditional Japanese and Chinese structures. During the Omi Matsuri festival in October, visitors can see a large float decorated with lanterns and flowers, while also experiencing traditional Japanese dances and performances.
