Cultural notes
Tsukasa Shrine is known for its association with the myth of Tsukasa, a young girl who was transformed into a tree by Amaterasu. During the annual Autumn Festival (Koyo Matsuri), visitors can see a large tree with a branch shaped like a human form, believed to be Tsukasa.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1912 after being destroyed by fire in 1905.
