Hatsuse-jinja is a Shinto shrine located in the city of Sakura, Saitama Prefecture. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
This shrine is particularly famous for its association with the Japanese New Year (Oshogatsu) celebrations. In recent years, visitors have taken to leaving offerings of sake and mochi at the shrine in hopes of a prosperous new year.
Historical note
Hatsuse-jinja was originally built in the Edo period (1603-1867) as a rural shrine, but it has undergone several renovations over the centuries. Today, the shrine is still an active place of worship and community events are held regularly here.
