Ifukuji Shrine, located in the town of Ryuhaku in Shiga Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Emperor Junna, also known as Emperor Ingyo's brother. The shrine is famous for its autumn foliage and traditional festival events. Visitors can experience the unique atmosphere of this local shrine.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes

The shrine is known for its traditional Ryukyu-style wooden architecture. In October, visitors can enjoy the autumn leaf viewing event, which features a stunning display of maple trees. According to local legend, Emperor Junna was said to have been buried in the nearby Ifukuji River.

The shrine was founded in 730 AD by the imperial family during the Nara period.
