Shitennō-ji Temple, also known as Shita-no-hikari in Japanese, is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan and a significant Shinto shrine located in the Osakajoshi district of Osaka. The shrine enshrines the legendary White Horse God, Sakahime no Okami, which may have originated from the Buddhist White Horse deity, as well as other regional kami. The temple was built during the Asuka period (c. 593-645 CE) and is famous for its striking white-painted buildings and beautiful gardens.
