Visitor tip
For a unique experience, visit Katsurahama Shrine during the annual Setsubun Festival (February 3rd or 4th) to participate in a bean-throwing ritual, believed to ward off evil spirits.
Cultural notes
This shrine is connected to the myth of Okuninushi, who was said to have descended from heaven to bring fertility and prosperity to the land. Locals still celebrate this deity during the Setsubun Festival, which marks the beginning of spring.
