Located in the city of Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, Tenryu no Yama Tenpukuji, also known as Tenryu no Yama Shrine or simply Heaven Pool Shrine, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deity Tenjin. The shrine is famous for its unique 'heaven pool' (tenryu) which is believed to be the site where the spirit of the god Tenjin bathed after arriving on earth. According to legend, when Tenji, the deity, descended from heaven in a storm, he landed at this very spot and was offered food and shelter by the local inhabitants. As a token of gratitude, he created a heavenly pool, which has since been revered as a sacred site. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese design with a distinctive roof and beautifully landscaped gardens.
