俱知安神社 本殿

Located in the scenic town of Akitkan, Hokkaido's northernmost city, Akitkan Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the primary deity Inari Okappun, as well as several other kami, including Ishibutai and Kunitomo. The shrine was originally built in 1846 but has been rebuilt and renovated several times over the centuries due to natural disasters and fires. Today, visitors can admire the beautiful wooden torii gate, traditional Shinto architecture, and vibrant autumn foliage. In the nearby village of Shiraoi, it is said that Inari Okappun once disguised himself as a local fisherman to help his subjects during difficult times.
