津島神社

Shiga

Located on the island of Shikoku, Tsushima Island Shrine is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to the kami of the same name. According to legend, the shrine was founded in 768 by Emperor Shōmu, who used it as a resting place for his father, Emperor Shōmu's, coffin during the funeral procession from Kyoto to Shikoku. Today, the shrine is known for its beautiful architecture and scenic views of Lake Biwa.
