朝日大明神 槍先大明神

Cultural notes

In Shiga Prefecture, it is customary to offer a prayer (norito) for the safe return of fishermen at the shrine. The shrine also hosts an annual festival (matsuri) in May, which features traditional dances and food stalls. Slender bamboo stalks are often offered as prayers to Sasame-Okami.

Historical note

The shrine was built during the Kamakura period (1185-1333), a time of great prosperity for the Omi region.
