長崎八幡神社 is a Shinto shrine located in Saitama Prefecture, dedicated to the deity of maritime safety and prosperity, Hinomoto Hachiman, also known as Hachiman Okami. The shrine was originally built on the island of Tsushima, near Busan, South Korea, before being relocated to Japan during the 15th century. Its current structure is a mix of Heian and Kamakura architectural styles, featuring a large torii gate and a distinctive curved roof.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
長崎八幡神社 is deeply connected to the mythology of Hachiman Okami, who was said to have been awakened from his slumber by a group of Japanese warriors. The shrine also hosts an annual festival in May, known as the Hinomoto Hachiman Festival, which features traditional dances and performances.
Historical note
The shrine was rebuilt in 1889 after the original building was destroyed by fire.
