Forested on the banks of the Tamagawa River, the forest temple of Kamiatadashi Inari Shrine is dedicated to Inari Okami, the Shinto kami of rice and fertility. The shrine complex features a vermilion torii gate surrounded by a serene forest landscape. Visitors can walk through the gates of the 365 shrines that form a tunnel leading to the main hall.

Cultural notes

Kamiatadashi Inari Shrine is famous for its unique 'goshintotsu' ceremony, where visitors write down their wishes on paper and tie them onto the gates of the shrine as an offering. The shrine is also known for its beautiful autumn foliage, which attracts many visitors during the fall season.

Historical note

Founded in 1633 during the Edo period, the shrine was rebuilt after being destroyed in the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923.
