Fukushima Inari Taisha is a prominent Shinto shrine located in the city of Iwata, Shizuoka Prefecture. As one of Japan's most famous Inari shrines, it is dedicated to the god Inari Okami, patron deity of rice, fertility, and prosperity. The shrine complex covers over 12 acres and features numerous vermilion torii gates, as well as a large hall dedicated to Inari's wife, Takamago Hime. Visitors can explore the beautiful gardens, temples, and traditional shops within the grounds.

The shrine is also famous for its numerous fox statues, believed to be messengers of Inari Okami, and is said to have inspired the popular Japanese folktale 'The Tale of the 47 Ronin'.
Historical note
The shrine was founded in 744 CE during the Nara period by Emperor Shōmu, who established it as an imperial shrine.
