Akibayashi Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in the mountains of Niigata Prefecture, dedicated to the god of agriculture and rice, Akiba-Okami, as well as several other kami including Inari Okami and Bishamon Tenjin. The shrine's architecture reflects its rural setting, with a simple yet elegant design. Visitors can experience traditional Shinto rituals and festivals during the annual Akibayashi Matsuri in May.

Cultural notes
Akibayashi Shrine is also known for its connection to the mythical bird, the 'Tsuru', which appears on the shrine's crest. According to local legend, a tengu was said to have been driven out by a group of villagers in exchange for protection from natural disasters and pests.
