金比羅宮

Kyoto

Ginsha-ryu Shrine, located in Kyoto, is one of the most famous Shinto shrines dedicated to the god of wealth and prosperity, Benzaiten. Dedicated to the protection of merchants and artisans, its architecture reflects the Heian period style with a distinctive golden lantern, symbolizing good fortune. This shrine is particularly notable for being the site of the legendary treasure, Kinpoku-ryū no Sei-butsu (the Sacred Bodhisattva Statue), which was used as collateral in the 16th-century Genpei War.
