Located in the heart of Tokyo, Senso-ji's sister shrine, Sanzen-in, is dedicated to the Shinto deity Inari Okami, the kami enshrined at this site, is believed to be associated with rice and agriculture. The shrine complex features a unique torii gate made from wood reclaimed from old buildings. Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Sanzen-in is famous for its annual Autumn Leaves Festival (Koyo) which attracts many visitors. The shrine is also known for its unique ritual called 'Namahagashi' where participants carry a large wooden pillar in front of the torii gate during the spring equinox festival.
Historical note
The shrine was established in 1457 by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa during the Muromachi period.
