八重垣神社

Located in the scenic town of Minami Nirasaki, Eightfold Wall Shrine is a Shinto temple dedicated to the protection and good fortune of travelers. The shrine's name 'Hachijidana-jinsha' literally translates to Eightfold Wall Shrine, referring to its unique structure featuring eight stone walls that form a protective barrier around the inner shrine. According to legend, the shrine was founded during the Kamakura period by a local daimyo as a guardian of the region's main road.

Visitor tip
