Water and Heaven Shrine, a Shinto site dedicated to the kami of the sea and heaven. Located in Hyogo Prefecture, it is known for its scenic views of Akashi Strait and its importance as a stopping point for travelers on the famous Naruto Odori dance route.

Cultural notes

Historical note

Founded during the Edo period (1603-1868), the shrine was originally dedicated to the sea god Ryujin and later became associated with the god Susanoo no Mikoto, a powerful deity known for his storms and turbulent weather.
