Located in the city of Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, Big Shrine of Hachiman is one of Japan's most historic Shinto shrines, dating back to the Heian period (794-1185 CE). Dedicated to the deity Hachiman, the shrine is known for its impressive architecture and beautiful gardens. The shrine was built during the reign of Emperor Saga in 812 CE as a temple dedicated to the god of war, but was later transformed into a Shinto shrine.

Visitor tip
