Cultural notes

In addition to its agricultural connections, Takakoma Inari Shrine is also famous for its involvement in the annual Rice Festival (, Mukizono Matsuri), which takes place in September. The festival features traditional dances, music, and food stalls, as well as a grand procession of rice baskets through the streets.

Historical note

The shrine was originally founded in 1673 as a small Inari Shrine dedicated to the worship of Inari Okami. It has undergone several renovations over the centuries, with significant restorations taking place during the Meiji period (1868-1912).
