Located in the Hachiman-ga-hara district of Iwate Prefecture, Shirane Shrine is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the deities of war and agriculture. The shrine is famous for its beautiful architecture and stunning natural surroundings, standing at the foot of Mount Hakusan. According to legend, the shrine was built in 736 by Emperor Genmei, who prayed for the prosperity of his people from the mountain.
