Located in the city of Himeji, Poolandai Okuninushi Shrine is one of Japan's oldest shrines, with a history dating back to the 7th century. It is famous for its beautiful garden and traditional architecture, including a five-story pagoda. The shrine is dedicated to Okuninushi, the Shinto god of harvests and rice, as well as other kami such as Shitennō and Tsukiyomi.

Cultural notes
This shrine is particularly famous for its association with the legend of Princess Iratsume, a heroine from Japanese mythology who saved her kingdom from famine by offering sacrifice to Okuninushi.
