Located in the city of Mutsu, Iwate Prefecture, Spring Day Taishogamia Shrine is dedicated to Takehisa Konishi, a renowned Japanese daimyo (feudal lord) and samurai who played a key role in the defense of the northern provinces against the Mongol invasions during the Genkō War. As one of the oldest shrines in Japan, it has been an important cultural and spiritual center for the region.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
The shrine is associated with the god of war and protection, Takehisa Konishi, as well as the kami of the forest and wildlife. During the spring season, a festival is held to honor Takehisa's legacy, featuring traditional dances, music, and offerings to the gods.

Founded during the Nanboku-chō period (1336-1392), Spring Day Taishogamia Shrine is estimated to be over 670 years old.
