Located in the city of Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, 伯清稲荷大神 is a small shrine dedicated to the rice god Inari Okami. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Japanese design, with a vermilion torii gate and a distinctive tiled roof. According to local legend, the shrine was founded by a samurai who built it as an offering to Inari after a successful battle.

Visitor tip
Visitors can offer rice grains or sweet rice cakes to Inari Okami at the shrine's storage room, known as 'fuchi,' which is said to be a sacred repository of offerings.
Cultural notes
伯清稲荷大神 is closely tied to the local agricultural community, and its annual festival in April celebrates the beginning of the new rice harvest. The shrine's architecture also features a unique 'shinmei' gate, which is adorned with wooden carvings depicting Inari's mythological horse, Shin.

The shrine was rebuilt in 1964 after being destroyed during World War II.
