The Eight-Fold Gate Shrine, located in Miyagi Prefecture, is a Shinto site dedicated to the worship of Amaterasu Omikami and Susanoo no Mikoto. The shrine's current main hall was rebuilt in 1873 after being destroyed during the Edo period. Its design blends traditional Japanese architecture with elements characteristic of the Heian era. Eight large pillars, known as 'sakaki' columns, stand before the shrine, symbolizing the eight gates that protect the sacred realm.
