Located in Saitama Prefecture, Eight Horses Temple Shrine is dedicated to the kami of eight horses that appeared before Oshimikado, a legendary emperor, as he was about to be assassinated. The shrine's current structure dates back to the Kamakura period (1185-1333). It is famous for its unique architectural style, which blends traditional Shinto elements with Buddhist influences.

Cultural notes
This shrine is also known as Hachimantai Shrine and is famous for its 'Hachiman Okura' festival, which honors the legendary god of war, Hachiman. During this festival, a procession takes place to commemorate the god's arrival at the shrine in 645 CE.

The shrine was rebuilt after being damaged in a fire during World War II.
