獅子ヶ鼻稲荷神社

Located in the city of Izu-ku, Shizuoka Prefecture, 獅子ヶ鼻稲荷神社 is a renowned Shinto shrine dedicated to the god Inari Okami, known as the patron deity of rice and fertility. The shrine's unique name refers to a nearby rocky outcropping resembling a tiger's nose. Cultural notes

Inari Okami is also associated with the fox spirit, which is said to appear as a messenger or protector of the shrine. The shrine is also famous for its rice storage rooms called 'okegahara' where donations of rice are made and stored.

Historical note

The shrine was originally built in 1596 during the Sengoku period by Date Terumune.
