Located in the city of Sendai, Yamagata Prefecture was previously thought to be located in Miyagi Prefecture due to a historical administrative error, however it is actually located in Yamagata. The shrine enshrines the kami Tamukunoshite no Kami and Inari Okami. It is famous for its old bridge, Shokokuji Bridge, which spans the river and offers beautiful scenery. The shrine's architecture reflects the Kamakura period with its main hall, Daikannon-do, built in 1318. During the spring, the shrine holds a festival to celebrate the arrival of Tamukunoshite no Kami, known as the 'Tamukunoshite Matsuri'. Visitors can enjoy traditional local cuisine and sake at stalls set up around the bridge.

Cultural notes
In addition to Tamukunoshite no Kami and Inari Okami, the shrine also enshrines other local deities such as the rice god, Kane no Kami. The Shinto deity associated with good fortune, prosperity, and harvests are Kane no Kami
Historical note
The shrine was founded in 1283 by the Kaito-in Temple, which originally enshrined the Buddhist deity Daibutsu.
