Located in the heart of Osaka, Ifuku-ji Shrine, also known as Ifukuu Shrine or Yuki-no-Kami Shrine, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to Inari, the god of rice and fertility. The shrine is famous for its beautiful vermilion torii gate and is said to have been built during the Nara period (710-794 CE). Visitors can admire the impressive wooden structure and explore the surrounding gardens, which are particularly stunning during cherry blossom season.

Visitor tip

Cultural notes
Ifuku-ji Shrine is closely associated with the legend of Yuki-onna, a vengeful spirit who freezes to death anyone she encounters without proper reverence. To avoid offending her, visitors can offer a small amount of sake or rice balls at the shrine's altar and bow deeply.
Historical note
The shrine's current form was rebuilt in 1842 after a fire destroyed the original temple.
