Yamagata

The Sōtendō Shrine, located in Yamagata Prefecture, is a Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of heaven and earth, Ryujin. The shrine was built in 1602 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi's daughter, Yodo-dono, as a memorial for her father. It is known for its unique architecture, which features a five-story pagoda and a large stone gate. The shrine is also famous for its association with the legend of the 'Heavenly Stairway', a mystical staircase said to connect heaven and earth.
