西宮神社

Located in the city of Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, in western Japan, Seiryoji is one of the oldest Shinto shrines on the island of Honshu. The shrine is dedicated to Hachiman-gami, the kami of war and protector of travelers. Visitors can explore the beautiful gardens and traditional architecture of the shrine.

Cultural notes

Seiryoji is known for its beautiful gardens and unique architectural style, which features a distinctive curved roofline. The shrine is also famous for its 'tsukubai', or water basin, where visitors can purify their hands before making an offering to the kami. In Japanese mythology, Seiryoji is associated with the legend of Hachiman-gami's tears, which are said to bring good luck and prosperity.
